middle aged onset schizophrenia

hi everyone i was diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder in my late 40s due to family trauma.  i was wondering how many people are late onset diagnosis.  also apparently more woman are being diagnosed in later years maybe menopause?

Think it makes sense to unpack diagnoses and ask the question what happened to you rather than what’s wrong with you.

 

would you even call it schizophrenia or just a normal response to trauma? I like your question about life transitions such as menopause.

@Kim47   my mental health nurse said with my background it is no surprise to her that i had a total psychotic episode which lasted 18 months before any "professional" realised what was happening.
