@AlwaysMyself I am not very physically active anymore. Thanks to the smokes.
yes I am grateful for the friend and psychiatrist. Hoping change of meds will work too.
Spanish America includes Mexico, Central America and all of South America except Brazil, but I used to teach a bit about Brazil as well. The politics of the region was one of dictatorships, terror, torture and US intervention. There have been a few revolutions too. They are a bit more democratic these days mostly. I taught about torture through poetry in one course. I have been to Mexico over ten times. I have also been to Cuba, Peru, Chile and Argentina. Amazed I was able to travel mostly alone. That’s why I learnt Spanish by sitting in on Spanish classes when I was doing my PhD. My bipolar didn’t manifest itself until I was working so after my PhD. So really late onset when I thought I had escaped inheriting it.

Girls time. We all sit in a circle wearing whatever we want and talk whatever we want.
I just want to comment on Home and Away characters - do you notice they come on the shows and within one year they are heavily in the gym ?
I wonder what gym they go to ?
And very white teeth.

Hi @AuntGlow, I hope to go visit a tamarind tree over the next couple of days if I can! I have great memories of these trees during my childhood, loved trying to get the tamarind off the trees with friends!
These are google images, wondering if anyone else knows the great tamarind trees 😊🌻

I have not yet been to any of the America's. I hear many people speak fondly of travels to Mexico and South American countries.
The US seems to have a pretty back rep for intervention in South America - backing rebels etc --- im guessing against communist or dictators? But the new regimes end up dictators or terrorists too?
I will admit the stories of drug cartels in Mexico scare me a little.
Id love to go to Mexico during the Day of the Dead celebration though to see the cultural tradition.
How is it that Brazil was not Spanish? Was it Portuguese? I know some of the areas are Portuguese not Spanish colonised in the past. How did it occur that both countries went there? I wohld have thought that would be quite a conflict between them and they'd be better to go colonise different continents?

That is so funny about the gym @PeppyPatti !! 🤣🤣 maybe the studio gets a corporate discount somewhere local lol.
How do you know they all go to the gym? Do they look more muscular over the season?
Maybe they share a dentist too lol. But im guessing they all feel pressure to have "perfect teeth" as actors 🙁. I prefer "real people" look on TV - like British cop shows where being and old wrinkly person is almost expected! 😅 I like the BBC also make sure to hire actors with disability and race diversity too. 😊 more representative of real life

@Chasingsunsets i knew of the fruit/spice tamarind, but had never seen a picture of the tree it came from. They look really big!!
What climate do they grow in? Northern QLD / tropical?
Mentally i associate them with Indonesia because I think Indonesia and Malaysia is where ive seen tamarind products.
yesterday
Yeah tropical areas I think!! @AlwaysMyself. I am not very good with my trees or locations lol so I went on a google search. If I read correctly they originate from eastern Africa/ Madagascar which I also didn’t know!
Google says commonly found in Africa, India, Southeast Asia, Australia, the Caribbean, and parts of the southern U.S now ☺️

@AlwaysMyself Yes Brazil is Portuguese. At the time of colonisation 15th and 16th Century Spain and Portugal were the dominant powers. They were rivals the pope drew a line on the Americas between them. So Brazil ended up Portuguese and the rest Spanish.
Yes the drug cartels are very strong in Mexico but don’t control all areas. The US supports the right wing in the Americas and lots of dictators.
I have been to a day of the dead ceremony in a small indigenous town. It was cool.
Got the runs this morning that’s anxiety about having to go to the shops, but I did manage to get in the shower and put a load of washing on. Need to wash towels as well as clothes.

Ahh, so thats how the decided on the split lol. It is interesting looking back on European history and at the political power/control the pope had at certain times - like the early crusades time I think?
Good job on the shower and washing. 🙂 i should probably do a load of washing too when I get home.
Is there any tricks you have for decreasing anxiety so you can manage going to the shops?
I imagine having the runs does not help that endeavour lol. I get the runs when I am stressed by things. A very inconvenient body reaction eh!
