I feel like every time I see a new Dr I get yet another label!!!!
Recently I was diagnosed with ADHD and Autism (at 57!). This, in addition with all the other labels I have been given …. I kind of feel like I never had a chance!
Anywho! I can’t afford the $200 per 50 minutes of “coaching” suggested by the Dr …. There seems to be a huge number of apps that supposedly help people with these DX’s to sort out their life …. Of course they also cost money I don’t have …. So if I am going to spend money on such a thing, it would be good to know that other real people have actually found them beneficial.
So, do you use an app for this purpose? If so, which one and how has it helped you? Or have you tried one or some of these apps and found them useless? Either would be good to know.

Hey @K9Mumma ,
I wanted to pop in to thank you for sharing what's been happening for you. It sounds like a lot to work with and I can see you are doing your best to work through it.
I personally don't use any apps for coaching. I have a growth coach who is a psychologist. I see them about 10 times a year. I have a private psychologist I see from time to time, and I have an external supervisor.... I feel I can work with these professionals to manage my neurospicy issues.
I've managed to use the basic apps to help me remember things. I write a lot of notes to help be order my brain.
Maybe @Jynx can provide some insight.
Also this thread Re: Wait what did I come into this thread for again? Oh yeah, ADHD! Might be userful.

Hi there,
What exactly are you wanting a coach or the app for? I myself am Autistic and have not needed supports for the way my brain works. I have needed supports with anxiety, depression and trauma, and how to organise myself for adhd, I don't take medication because my Autistic brain has usually been more dominant than my adhd brain, untill now. So, I am considering meds for focus. I can direct you to plenty of free resources but I am not sure what you are after.

Hey there @Charlie17 , fair point.
That was for me too. The apps and resources were for how to manage my forgetfulness or struggle with ordering things better...
Also, welcome to the forums. Thanks for sharing.

Oh, forgetfulness! I am not sure of apps. We have tried every app, calendar etc. The only thing that has worked for us is an alarm that buzzes on my watch for when I need to move on to the next thing, the other thing is a whiteboard on the wall next to the door so I know what I need to do before I leave home, and calendar app with notifications. At the moment my adhd is best friends with my perimenopause! Not a good time! Hope ppl suggest good apps that I can also use. 😉

Thank you so much for answering and raising some excellent questions. I am very much in the “unconscious incompetence” phase of my understanding of this new diagnosis …. I have no idea what I don’t know! I really don’t know what I want or what is even possible from “coaching” or apps …. The coaching was just something suggested by the psychiatrist (but once I had paid their bill, there wasn’t much left!).
I mean I know my life is a mess, my house is worse. I don’t seem to be able to stay focused on anything and even the most basic functions of life I either don’t remember to do, get distracted part the way through or simply don’t have the energy to start in the first place!
I do have a number of other issues, both from a mental health as well as physical health perspective and all of that combined really does come together to make a mess of my life!
I guess I would be interested in anything that helps to improve the shitshow I live daily. I used to be more functional than I am now, but that was before a major accident which has left me with lifelong injury, before the onset of a debilitating illness and before the menopause witch came in to roost!
I do use my electronic calendar extensively and have done for years. Everything has alarms on it and then reminder alarms as well to ensure I got the message! But I keep that for places I need to be such as medical appointments. I have tried using it for things like medication reminders but I generally cancel the reminder and then ignore it …. Basically if the thing I am being reminded of doesn’t have an impact on someone else, then it gets short circuited in my brain and dumped in the “trash” as it is somehow seen as not important.

I can relate to it all as well. I do the same things. I will have a look at some resources that have helped me and message the across.

@K9Mumma I'd start with these. They're not going to fix everything but they will help you with self- compassion and understanding of yourself. All free.

Thank you so much.
I guess I need to understand what happens. Maybe if i do that things will make more sense.

I identify as aspyish…. @K9Mumma I periodically look at YouTube videos…but also see aspects of myself through various lenses, from developmental adaptations to trauma adaptations. I avoid apps generally. Not even digital calendars. Definitely a paper diary girrrll.
if the diagnosis helps that’s great, but don’t load yourself up with too many expectations.
@Charlie17 @tyme have good ideas.
good luck with your journey. I explored it first as a young mum with high functioning kids. That was 30 years ago. I have met shrinks socially who take it with a grain of salt. Gentle self acceptance may help more than trying to fix it. Take care
