Re: 🐦Bird 🐦Therapy🐦

Thanks @Former-Member Whether I stick to my guns remains to be seen, but I do intend to.

I have the Fencing Act (law) on my side...

Yes the tradesmen did make a bit of a mess, but not too much.

They (or my neighbour) certainly did not have to cut major branches off my Bouganvillea, because it wasn't even touching the fence (that's trespassing).

Yes Goldfinches are a bit hard to get (although cheap), so I'm happy to have found some.

They're very unusual in behaviour (that's why I like them) - I forgot to mention that they can fly upside-down, & land upside-down on the wire of the aviary roof...

I've never seen any other bird do that, it's amazing.

When there are lots of Goldfinches in a large Bird-shop aviary, they all hang upside-down from the roof...

Something about women needing their own kitchen, even in old age. My ma is still having a go at me for rearranged her cutery drawer last month when I went to help, as if!

Re: 🐦Bird 🐦Therapy🐦

@Adge, I forgot to close the door on my finch cage today, lucky I keep them in my bathroom with a curtain over the doorway. I opened a cage door at the top, with a purch stick sticking out, so the little Zebra finch would fly back in, you guessed it, next time I went to the loo, x3 finches were out, grr (drr, of cause opening the cage door is gonna attract 2way traffic, my brain 😖), anyway, now its getting dark I'm really hoping they'll make their way back in.
You plant some shrubs along that fence, gonna look great!

Re: 🐦Bird 🐦Therapy🐦

Oh @Former-Member That happens to me too.

More often it's because my sneaky parrots know how to push the cage door open themselves...

A Budgie forced the cage door open, & flew around the laundry a few days ago (he bit me viciously when I put him back in).

My Peachface sometimes opens his cage door, & escapes...

@Adge, its not real clear but this is a pic of the shrub in front of my back fence. It has light purple flowersflowers. Lilly pilly N ght be better for you or some bird attracting acacia.

I just had a stressful time chasing finches. I caught x2 and put them back in their cage but one is being stubborn. One was stuck between tge curtain and window and I couldntcbelieve my eyes, a gecko was chasing him.😱. The wild is such a dangerous place. Left the light on in there hoping the last one will come closer where I can throw a teatowl over him. I'm so scared I'll hurt them when I pich them up, so tiny, but so far so good. They didn't bite me either.

Just took a normal pain med for headache and muscles - hope its not a cold or flu thing 😞 as i still have a couple of things to sort tonight for the charity pickup tomorrow.

Re: 🐦Bird 🐦Therapy🐦

I think you need a bird net @Former-Member if you don't already have one.

It's far too hard to catch virtually any birds without a net, especially fast-flying finches. Most finches fly fast.

I wouldn't be able to even catch my Budgies without a net, & they always use bird nets at the bird shops (to catch them).

Finches won't bite you, or if they do it won't hurt (you won't feel anything). It's parrots, especially Budgies that bite like mad.

You just hold the finch firmly but gently between your thumb & your forefinger, with its head sticking out between. You won't hurt it.

Good luck...

Re: 🐦Bird 🐦Therapy🐦

How long have you had birds for @Adge and @Former-Member? I have been thinking about adopting some parrots... any advice in choosing a bird for somebody who has never had one before?
