Afraid to leave my house

I've been in my home for 1.5 years after 2 years homelessness living in my car. I have had nothing but problems from neighbours spying on my every move.

Just lately I've been cleaning thru my items and stumbled across questionable items I know aren't mine and I don't know where they have come from.

Items I'm sure could link me to a crime possible, or get me into trouble that I couldn't explain away if asked . Feels like I couldn't just say that's not mine as it is amongst my belongings.

I just throw these questionable items that aren't mine in the bin, but am now afraid to leave my house on the inkling that more items will be placed hidden amongst my stuff and I'll have to go thru all my things every time I get home .

Then I wonder what else is here that I haven't found . What can I do about this.? I already have 5 locks on each door, windows blocked with cabinets so no one could enter. I've had security cameras to no avail. Footage has either been chopped, edited with no evidence so going to cops makes me sound crazy cos they need proof of my claims. I need to move but can't get housing.?!

Re: Afraid to leave my house

Hey @Stella44 ,

I'm sorry you feel so uncomfortable in your own home. I can relate. A number of years ago, my house was broken into. The theif then came back a day later. I did not feel safe in my own home and it took a long time to be able to sleep without 'jumping' awake, startled.

That feeling is so real.

Do you have any neighbours you can trust? Also, do you have people who can go over to your place to keep you company?

Re: Afraid to leave my house

I believe it is my neighbours who are breaking in, hence why no one ever sees anything suspicious.

They have made it so uncomfortable for my guests that no one wants to visit.

I'm looking at booby traps as a possible deterrent cos I'm at whits end and tires of being a prisoner in my home?

I am open to any suggestions or solutions to this neighbourhood watch stazi street.?

Re: Afraid to leave my house

Are you able to stay with your friends then @Stella44 ?

Do security cameras help so you can show police?

I'm sorry this is happening. It soudns so hard.

Re: Afraid to leave my house

Staying with friends isn't a long term solution, but occasionally I do this.

I've had cameras and never gotten any footage, it gets deleted, or internet cuts out, conveniently?

But this platform is great for advise, and sharing my reality.

Thanks for caring about me and my life matters
