Hot Chocolateers. @Former-Member @Determined @Faith-and-Hope @Shaz51
Just managed to walk my son through doing practical things and he is cooking dinner. Doing practical things has been a huge obstacle for him ... but I am working on needing his muscles ...

Yes you are so right about slow & tricky @Appleblossom
I've been trying all sorts of things for months, actually.
Sometimes with a small temporary improvement in cat behaviour, sometimes with no effect.
Jelly is the 4th cat that I've raised from a kitten.
Yet I never had to deal with anything on this scale (destructive & insistent), with the other 3...
She's driven me completely Bananas (not the tasty fruit type)...

That is a nuisance. @AdgeSounds like you have heaps of experience.
Sometimes its temperament and sometimes its training ... I tolerate a bit of furniture scratching as I preferred to have my cats to home beautiful. Though I was dissappointed my brand new couch was looking bad after only a year. Just had to put up with a bit ...

I think I've failed on the training side, with this cat @Appleblossom
I don't really know how (or why).
Yes, scratching couches would upset me too.
She's actually scratched & shredded the plywood off the base of two of my doors.
I've never seen any cat do that before, & I cannot repair or fix it...

Have you kept her as an indoor cat? @Adge
My vet said I had a highly strung cat and a laidback one ... Behaviourists are expensive tho ...

Yes she's been inside for her entire life (1 & 1/2 years) @Appleblossom
My previous 3 cats I let outside at about 6 months old (each one), then they were always outside cats - although much friendlier & more predictable than this one (Jelly).
My 3rd cat Rexy was stolen (cat-napped) & disappeared, only 2 or 3 weeks after he got used to being outside (2011).
Which partly explain why I was so anxious & reluctant to let Jelly cat go outside.
