Autistic burnout

I am in Autistic burnout and so very distressed. I can't work and I worry about everything. I'm worried this will last years and I'm concerned centrelink will cut me off. Anyone else in the same boat please share your experiences. My Psychiatrist put me on new meds but nothing is currently helping me at all and I feel worse everyday

Re: Autistic burnout

Sorry to hear you have burnout. Trust in your ability to work things out.

Re: Autistic burnout

@Lilly20 That sounds really tough. Austustic burnout is different for everyone. What sort of things can you do? Do you have a list of things that you can maybe stagger throughout the day. Depending on your capacity this can be something as brushing teeth, or showering. I like to do a list of things that take my energy and things that give me energy. For example, brushing my teeth takes away 5 points out of my 100 total energy but drinking tea gives me 20. I try an balance my energy deposits and my energy withdrawls. I started with very easy things and worked up. Now my brain has been trained to do it more automatically but of course there are bad days and that's ok.

Re: Autistic burnout

Autistic burnout is so hard; most people don't understand how difficult it is. I ended up on Disability Support Pension, DSP. You might like to look into it; you can still work when you have enough energy. For me, it's a safety net for when life gets too overwhelming; I know my family is taken care of.

Re: Autistic burnout

It's very hard to apply for DSP and I don't see a regular psychologist, what proof did you need to get approved?
